Runner Profile #5: Kim O'Connell

A couple of email exchanges and a meeting over a cup of coffee was the only length of time that I've known Ms Kim before this shoot. But it felt like I knew her already for a really long time. And what interested me also was that we share the same 2 passions in life.... running and arts. And I envy her since she can paint and I'm stuck with my light box.

A knee surgery, 5 Marathons and 3 half Marathons later...... Here she is again preparing for another 26.2 miler footrace. I won't divulge her age, as I would definitely get into trouble for sure. :)

It is never too late to start running. Kim ran her first marathon at age 50.

You can have all the excuses in the world, but if your really determined then there's a lot of ways to achieve a goal. :)

Let me be the 1st to comment. Ben again you are 1 great photographer. You know how to bring out the magic of running in photos. You should really start planning to have a photo exhibit and show your masterpiece to the world. If you need any help on this let me know .
Kim age does not matter what is important is the fire in you. Keep on running you are an inspiration to all of us. – Patrick Concepcion / Runningshield.

No wonder you wanted me to watch out for this! Her 1st marathon at age 50! Hey, Ben. Would you be interested to feature me when I run my 1st marathon at age 60? Pero gusto ko, kasing super ganda ng mga shots na to ha. Hindi halata ang totoong edad ko heh heh ...

I had the pleasure of meeting Kim in Animo. And, met her again just last weekend. Got to chat with her for a while. She has such a positive aura and I think you were able to capture it...especially in the painting photo.

Congrats again Ben. Great job :) To kim, good luck in Singapore. You're in good hands with coach. Hope you're feeling better :)

Hi Ben,

I just stumbled upon your blog. I was reading some of my friends blog- trying to get some inspiration to go running tonight. Your blog definitely is a booster.
Actually, I kindda feel about myself, feels like I'm not trying hard enough.

If you decide to do the KOTR, I hope you get to visit our restaurant at the Fort: its called Paul Calvin's Deli. We'll be serving Healthy Breakfast Buffet. We’re located at Rizal Drive (Between UCC & Chowking) sa tapat lang kami ng helipad.

Para di ka maligaw you can call us at 856.5900. Just look for me (Jay)

Excited to meet new friends and hopefully new running buddies.
